Artist
What's in a name ?
It took me a long time to say I am an artist. I started out proclaiming in first grade that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. College found me saying I was studying to be an artist. The years between college and moving to Butte I was working at trying to be an artist.
Butte has a way of making all things possible. People in the past identified and were proud of their professions. The embossing on the brass drain in my claw foot bathtub proclaims "Krueger the Plumber" as it's maker. The antique store owner was "Tony the Trader" and now, I am, "Toni the artist."

In the fall of 2015 I watched the first Republican debate. The anger I felt towards the bullying, the name calling , the childish rude interrupting when other candidates were answering a question so infuriated me I started creating "The Comb-Over Candidate" the very next day. He is an empty suit with no heart. Though he has small hands in reality, in this piece his hands are big, grabby and greedy. Nothing has happened since that first debate to change my opinion. He is not someone I can admire.
